I watched Indie Game: The Movie this morning. It was pretty good!
As an indie game developer/programmer myself, I understand what the guys in this movie are going through. Working on a game or other software that you’re intensely passionate about envelops your life to the point where it is impossible to see outside of that bubble. One begins to transform from a “regular” member of society to a solitary recluse.
Edmund’s remarks about wanting social interaction without the hassle of social interaction also hit home with me. That’s one of the reasons I find blogging enjoyable, actually. Chatting with other game developers on IRC, too.
If you’ve wanted to make a game, if you’ve made a game, or if you’re just into games, you should definitely watch Indie Game: The Movie. It’s a good documentary that will hit home.
