The cats woke me up at 5:30am this morning begging to be fed. Surprisingly, the news came through on my feed reader that La-Mulana had made its way to the WiiWare store. Looks like I know what I'm doing with my extra time before work this morning! Going to grab some Tim Hortons and come back to blast through some caverns in La-Mulana! Been waiting for this...
After a huge amount of effort and a long period of uncertainty, La-Mulana has officially been released on the European and North American WiiWare stores. It's been out on PC for a while but I've held off purchasing it until it was available on Wii because I love the WiiWare store, I wanted to play it using a Wii controller rather than on the keyboard, and I didn't want to use Playism (a Steam-alike).
I'm really excited to support the Japanese indie gaming scene. There haven't been a lot of Japanese indie games that I have wanted to play and I miss the old-school days of Super NES/Genesis. La-Mulana looks like it could have come from that time and it's something that I'm really excited about trying.
I get the feeling that if you liked Cave Story then you'll like La-Mulana too. Here's to gaming!

PPS: The developer has asked that if you tweet about your experiences while playing La-Mulana that you use the #playlamulana hashtag so they can follow along and everyone can chime in with you on Twitter. Yay!
